Blackpool & District Astronomical Society was formed in October 1986 by a few keen local amateur astronomers. The society is growing and now has around twenty-five members, with a wide cross section from novices to experienced observers.

Meetings take place on a regular basis on the first Wednesday of every month. Meetings include a talk or lecture, by either a guest speaker or one of our own members, and often include a slide show, video or hands-on sessions. Members specialise in areas such as lunar, planetary and deep sky CCD imaging, video astronomy, double star and solar observation.

We offer advice including what type of equipment to buy and how to use it. We encourage beginners and new members to learn from our more experienced members

Meetings are friendly and informal and all are welcome to attend. It should be noted that access to the meeting room is via a fairly steep staircase and there is unfortunately no provision for wheelchair access. We are currently looking at solving this issue.
